Frequently Asked Questions About Non-Dual Astrology

This page answers the practical questions people usually have about Know What You Are: what non-dual astrology is, what it is not, how sessions work, and where the guardrails are.

Know What You Are does not offer fortune-telling, therapy, coaching, psychological treatment, or life advice while wearing spiritual clothing. The method uses astrology as a symbolic mirror for recurring patterns of identity, fear, desire, defense, and self-image, so those patterns can be seen more clearly, not worshipped, polished, or mistaken for who you are, the benefit being a little less confusion about the machinery you’ve been calling me.

What This Is

What This Is

What is non-dual astrology?

Non-dual astrology uses the birth chart as a symbolic mirror for the patterns that you’ve mistaken for yourself or title “me.” From the non-dual perspective, the real you is not your ego or personality or even your thoughts. These “objects” are observed, named things and as such, they cannot be that which witnesses them. The witness is the real you.

In a traditional reading, the chart is often treated as a description of who you are. In non-dual astrology, the chart is used more carefully. It helps reveal recurring structures of identity, fear, desire, defense, longing, control, avoidance, and self-image. In other words, the chart points to the machinery or the architecture of the egoic personality, not the Self.

The point is not to decorate the ego with better adjectives, or “tell a better story of you.” Most egos already have a decked-out costume closet. The point is to see the pattern clearly enough that it becomes less convincing as an identity and, in short, stops bullying you around because you experience the truth that it never had a separate reality to begin with. Whoa, heavy. I know.

What does non-predictive astrology mean?

Non-predictive astrology means the chart is not used to forecast events, guarantee outcomes, or tell you what will happen next.

In this approach, astrology is used to examine meaning, timing, pressure, repetition, and interpretation. Transits and other timing techniques may show where life is pressing on a familiar pattern, but they are not treated as cosmic weather reports or little fortune cookies with glyphs.

Non-predictive astrology asks a different kind of question. Not, “What will happen to me?” but, “What am I making this mean, and who do I think I am inside that meaning?”

How is this different from traditional Western astrology?

Traditional Western astrology often focuses on defining the personality, accessing compatibility between people and circumstances, prediction of events, life timing, ferreting out personal strengths and challenges, and psychological themes. Know What You Are uses Western astrological symbolism much differently.

Natal, transit, and other charts are not treated as a fixed identity maps. They are treated as a symbolic maps (or “mirrors”) of tendencies, attachments, defenses, and recurring interpretations. That distinction changes everything.

A conventional astrology reading might say, “Here is your pattern, what it means, and what you should do about it.’ But this approach asks, “Are you sure that pattern is you?”

That difference in focus explains it all.

What This Is Not

Is this therapy?

No. Know What You Are isn’t therapy, counseling, mental-health treatment, diagnosis, trauma treatment, or crisis support.

A session may include discussion of personal experiences, recurring patterns, life questions, or self-perception, but the method is symbolic, reflective, and educational. We’re looking at patterns of identity, fear, desire, defense, and self-image through the chart. We’re not treating a condition, processing trauma, or replacing the care of a licensed mental-health professional.

If you need therapy, get therapy. Good therapy can be a very sane thing. Know What You Are serves a different purpose.

Is this life coaching?

No. Know What You Are isn’t life coaching.

A session won’t give you a performance plan, accountability structure, success roadmap, or instructions for becoming a more polished version of yourself. I’m not here to help the personality get better branding or more attention. I already have a day job for that.

That doesn’t mean the method offers no guidance. In readings and case studies, I may offer reflective pointers: questions, observations, or places to look if you recognize the pattern being described. Those pointers aren’t prescriptions. They’re not steps toward improvement. They’re invitations to notice how identity, fear, desire, defense, and self-image are organizing your lived experience.

We’re not building a better ego strategy here. We’re examining the one already running the meeting so we can see it clearly, stop confusing its arguments for wisdom, and recognize that what you are was never the anxious little manager taking minutes in the first place.

Do you predict the future?

No. I don’t use astrology to predict the future.

The chart can describe symbolic timing, pressure, repetition, and the kinds of patterns being activated in a particular period. That’s useful. It can show where the appearances of life seem to be pressing on a familiar and often habitual structure. But it doesn’t mean the planets are scripting your Tuesday or whispering investment advice through Mercury.

Non-predictive astrology asks a different question. Not, “What’s going to happen to me?” The better question is, ”What pattern is being activated, and why does it feel so personal?”

Who This Is For

Who is a good fit for Know What You Are?

Know What You Are is for adults who are reflective, responsible, and tired of watching the same pattern recur, often in better clothes and with grander promises.

You may be successful, competent, spiritually curious, intellectually serious, or simply honest enough to admit that your favorite explanations haven’t ended the ongoing loop. A good fit is someone willing to look at identity, fear, desire, defense, self-image, and repetition without needing the chart to hand out compliments like hors d'oerves.

You don’t need to be broken. You don’t need to be special. You don't need astrological knowledge or a familiarity with Sanskrit terms. But, you do need enough maturity to look directly at the machinery behind the personality instead of asking astrology to decorate it or have it tell you what to do.

Do I need to believe in astrology?

No. You don’t need to believe that planets control your life. Heck, I don’t.

Know What You Are uses astrology as symbolic language, not as a belief system. The chart gives us a structured way to examine recurring patterns, timing, pressure, interpretation, and self-image. It isn’t treated as a cosmic instruction manual or an excuse for your worst habits.

Skepticism is welcome, provided it’s honest skepticism and not just another form of self-protection wearing glasses. You can approach the chart as a symbolic map. The value comes from what it helps us see, not from forcing you to adopt a metaphysical position.

Is this for beginners?

Yes, if you’re a beginner with enough seriousness to stay seriously open and engaged with the conversation.

You don’t need to know a blessed thing about the mechanics of astrology: houses, aspects, transits, solar arc directions, or any of the other astrology vocabulary that makes normal people blink twice and reach for coffee. I’ll translate the technical language into plain English. The point isn’t to teach astrology to you, anyway. The point is to use the charts to reveal the underlying structure of the very convincing character you’ve been calling “me.”

That said, beginner doesn’t mean passive. A session asks for attention, honesty, and a willingness to look at yourself without immediately turning the reading into either self-judgment or self-congratulation.

How Sessions Work

What happens in a reading?

A session is a structured, one-to-one conversation based on your natal chart, relevant timing, and the question or situation you bring.

We’ll look at the chart together and discuss it in plain language. I’ll point out the underlying structure: how identity tends to form, what repeats, where pressure builds, and how a familiar sense of “me” organizes the experience. You’ll hear how that structure shows up symbolically in the chart and how it’s likely playing out in real time.

You’ll leave with a clear explanation of what’s been operating behind the scenes, how it holds together in experience, and a set of precise observations and pointers you can continue working with after the session.

Are sessions live on Zoom?

Yes. Sessions are conducted live on Zoom.

You’ll receive a link in advance. All you need is a stable connection, a quiet place to sit, and enough attention to stay with the conversation.

Can I record the session?

At the risk of sounding weirdly controlling, no, you can’t. But I can.

Let me explain.

Sessions are recorded by Know What You Are for the limited purpose of creating an accurate written transcript and maintaining internal records. Recordings are temporary, kept only as long as needed for those purposes, and then deleted. By booking, you consent to that.

You’ll receive a detailed written summary. Audio or video recordings are not part of the deliverable unless explicitly agreed to in advance.

You may not record, transcribe, screen capture, or use AI tools to capture the session in any form. Sharing or publishing any portion of a session without written permission is also prohibited.

Why? Because sessions can involve highly personal material, strong interpretations, and nuanced language that can be misunderstood, excerpted poorly, or shared without proper context. The policy protects both of us: you receive a useful written record, and I preserve an accurate account of what was and wasn’t said. Neither of us will need to deal with stray clips, partial transcripts, or someone’s highly creative memory of what was said.

You receive a useful written record, and I preserve an accurate account of the session. In plain terms: clarity travels better than fragments.

Case Studies & Email Access

Are the case studies real?

They’re real in structure, but not in identity. They show you the level of detail I go into with every reading, and give you a sense of my “flavor” or tone. But they aren’t any actual person’s readings, because when you do a reading with me, it’s 100% confidential. I refuse to violate anyone’s trust.

Each case study is built from patterns that I’ve seen recur across many readings: loops, pressures, decisions, and self-images. What’s changed are the names, details, and any identifying information.

The intent wasn’t to document any single person. It’s to show you patterns clearly enough that you might recognize something of your own.

Why are the case studies fictionalized?

To elaborate a bit more on the previous answer: because privacy isn’t optional here.

Sessions involve personal material, and that stays private. Case studies are written to demonstrate how a reading unfolds without exposing the person who sat in the chair on the video call across from me.

You get the substance of the interpretation, the structure of the pattern, and the way the conversation develops, without turning someone else’s life into content.

What happens when I request free access to the case studies?

You’ll create a login and get access to the case study library.

From there, you can watch the videos, read the breakdowns, and see how the method is applied in actual situations. It’s the closest thing to sitting in on a session without being in one.

Privacy, Ethics, & Limits

Is my information confidential?

Yes.

Personal information you provide for a session is treated as private and used only to prepare for and conduct the session, along with related internal records. Case studies and public examples are fictionalized so no one’s identity is exposed.

If you share it in a session, it stays in the session. Like Las Vegas, only, well, more confidential than that.

Do you provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, or predictive guidance?

No.

Know What You Are does not provide medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice, and it does not offer predictive guidance about future events. Work with me, and you just might gain an experiential insight into Einstein’s famous quote about the distinction between past, present, and future as a “stubbornly persistent illusion”.

A session is a symbolic, interpretive conversation. It can clarify how a situation is being organized and experienced, but it doesn’t replace professional advice or make decisions for you.

Can I book from outside the United States?

In most cases, yes.

Sessions are conducted online, so location usually isn’t an issue. That said, you’re responsible for understanding any local regulations that may apply to you, as well as any currency rate shenanigans when it comes time to pay for your session(s).

If there’s a question about your location, reach out before booking, and we’ll sort it out.
